“A morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.” – Henry David Thoreau ??
By now most of you have heard of the numerous benefits of walking daily – healthier heart, stronger bones and joints, and a simple way to manage your weight.
But did you know that the best time for a walk is 5:00 Am to 7:00 Am?
Why? Because it’s the time of day when fresh oxygen is readily available. And fresh morning oxygen gives you great amounts of ENERGY, especially for your joints. Additionally, a morning walk is said to bring a greater sense of happiness, calming our agitated nerves and COOLING our active mind, and tense body.
Because I alternate between walking at sunrise and sunset, I can confidently say I agree with the above sentiment. There’s just something about that morning fresh air that really invigorates me and sets my day in motion.
I find my morning walks to be a sort of thoughtful meditation – a quiet time to give thanks, and to set my intentions for the day.
Most days I walk on an empty stomach, just because I like to get out there as the sun is rising. But if you happen to eat breakfast first, the walk will help stimulate digestion; an added bonus! Which is also why short walks after dinner is a good idea too.
Just 20-30 minutes each morning can make a miraculous impact on your overall health.
So set your alarm clock, and step into a healthier, happier you.
