Are you really doing everything it takes to get what you want in life?
It’s been my experience that most people who are frustrated with the fact that they’re not hitting their goals or that it is taking too long, quite honestly, just aren’t doing everything it takes to get the results they want.
Know who you are and don’t be swayed by the opinions of others.
Part of doing everything it takes to achieve your dreams means ignoring the opinions of others. It means taking it on the chin and not getting sidetracked by the shiny object syndrome. You’ve got to be grounded and confident enough to stand for yourself, take a stand for your dreams, take a stand for what it is you’re trying to do, and become it.
When you’re grounded in who you are, and what you are willing to create, you don’t allow yourself to be swayed by others.
If what you’ve been doing hasn’t been working then it’s time to make new choices.
One limiting belief I’ve seen hold people back is the idea that they have limited choices because of their background or their past.
Be honest. Do you believe that because of your background, and how you were or were not raised, you can’t possibly accomplish some of the things that others have accomplished? If you do believe this, recognize it as false. Because it is!
What you’re born into has nothing to do with who you can become and what you can achieve. While you may need to work a little bit harder, or smarter, than others…it doesn’t mean you don’t have the same free will. You do.
Understand that as an adult, you always have choices, and that you are the one in charge of your decisions.
What choices are you making today?
What changes have you made?
What daily habits have you put in place in order to create the result you want?
What are you doing differently today than you did yesterday?
Thoughts and Language
The thoughts you think, and the language you use (about yourself and to yourself) have a huge impact on what you are able to create in your life.
What do you say to yourself on a regular basis?
Maybe you say something like, I’m a procrastinator… I’ve always been a procrastinator, you can ask my mom! Or, I’m lazy…that’s too hard for me…I’m a perfectionist!
A lot of times we get these ideas about ourselves based on what people told us growing up, and whether it was true or not, we take it as fact and continue to manifest it. Even if we’ve experienced something in the past (like an unfaithful partner), we can never let that determine what we believe about the future. The past is the past… it doesn’t even exist, it’s a memory.
Watch what you say about yourself and how much you’re allowing others to influence what you say about yourself.
Be consistent in your efforts.
Being consistent doesn’t mean that every single day and in every single way you are perfect. You will stumble along the way, but you if you keep getting up and keep getting back in it, you will create the results you desire.
If what you are doing now is not getting you the results you want then take a step back and reevaluate what you are doing.
1. Decide who YOU want to be… what goals do you want to achieve? Don’t let others decide for you.
2. Make New Choices. If what you’re doing isn’t working, make different choices. Try something else. Develop habits that align with your goals.
3. Watch your language. What you say about yourself and to yourself becomes what you believe about yourself and your abilities.
4. Be consistent with your actions.
You will figure out what works best for you by just taking action… Chances are you will have to go outside of your family and close personal friends to take steps to achieve your goals. You have to be a little bit uncomfortable in order to get to where you want to go.
