HOW TO GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY

Three months ago I decided to take on the You vs. You challenge by Jesse Itzler. If you haven’t heard of it, You vs. You is an endurance challenge designed for entrepreneurs to build focus, manage mindset, and banish self doubt (okay, I snagged that one directly from the website).

Trainees have been sent emails for the past three months with different training exercises to do to build our endurance. It all culminates this weekend with a three day in person physical challenge. I am one big ball of excitement and nerves, but I know without a shadow of a doubt that I am ready to take on anything they throw at us.

How am I so confident? I learned a long time ago that the biggest obstacle standing in the way of reaching my goals is me.

Get Out of Your Own Way

I didn’t always feel that way though. When I was overweight and unhealthy, I had a number of stories about why I couldn’t have that dream body and lifestyle that I wanted.

Once I became conscious of my thought process, it dawned on me that the only thing standing in my way was me. I was arguing for my limitations instead of seeing my potential. I was literally telling the universe that I wasn’t worthy of the body and lifestyle that I had been dreaming of.

Once I got out of my own way, I was able to reach those goals that I had set. It wasn’t easy, it still took a lot of hard work, dedication, and commitment, but it was worth it because I realized in that moment that anything is possible.

The Blame Game

It’s easy to blame other people or circumstances for our situation. But by passing around blame, you are taking away your power. You are dictating that someone or something else is in control of your life.

Once you shift your thinking and start accepting responsibility, you will start to see a change. Only then will you step into your power and realize that you are the master of your destiny, you control the outcome of your life, you have the power to create real and lasting change.

Shifting Your Mindset

When I was a fitness trainer, many of my clients came to me with big goals. Some wanted to train to for bikini competitions, some wanted to compete in Crossfit competitions, others were just trying to get in better shape. I could tell early one, with every client who walked through my door, those who would be successful and those who wouldn’t be.

I could tell by the words they used, and the reasons they gave. I could tell by the way they spoke about themselves and their body, and by what they believed they could or couldn’t accomplish.

It all comes down to mindset!

Your life reflects your mindset. If you go into a situation believing that you won’t be successful. Guess what? You won’t. If you go into a circumstance believing that you will succeed, you will!

It’s a powerful thing to realize that you are the creator of your life. The beauty is that it means if you are in a space that you don’t want to be, if you are unhappy with where your life is at then you have the power to change it.

You have the power to create your dream life.

So take a hard look at yourself. Are you happy with where you are? Is there something that you want to change? Are you getting in your own way?
