I love a good Tabata workout because they’re quick and efficient, meaning they get your heart rate up, and burn lots of fat calories without compromising muscle tone.

What is a Tabata Workout?

A Tabata workout is 8 rounds of one specific exercise, where you go ALL OUT for 20 seconds, then rest for 10 seconds. You repeat the 20/10 cycle until the 8 rounds is up, for a total of 4 breath sucking minutes.

This Tabata Workout

This one I put together recently for one of my clients who loves to get a good muscle burn.

Muscle burn being the key words here!

This type of high repetition, high intensity workout often leads to muscle soreness for many people the next day or two, due to lactic acid. So I always advise clients to do this type of workout no more than once per week, twice if you are in great shape and are accustomed to this type of training.

Just be sure to get plenty hydrated before and after. And electrolyte drink is perfect after this type of workout, IF you really give it your all.
